How to Sell VPN Alongside Your IPTV Service
A step-by-step guide to selling VPN plans next to your IPTV: your own servers, automatic accounts, what your customers see, and what it costs.
Adding a VPN plan is one of the simplest ways for an IPTV provider to earn more from the customers you already have. They already trust you, they already pay you every month, and a VPN fits the same rhythm: a subscription that renews with everything else.
What usually stops providers is the admin. Someone has to create every VPN account, extend it when the customer renews, and switch it off when they don't pay. Do that by hand for a few hundred customers and the extra income disappears into support time.
This guide shows how to sell VPN alongside your IPTV with the VPN Management module in IPTVbp: what you set up once, what runs on its own, what your customers see, and what it costs.
Why sell VPN with your IPTV
- A second subscription for the same customers. No new audience to find: you offer it in the store and checkout they already use.
- Privacy your customers understand. A VPN encrypts the connection between their device and your server. That matters most on hotel, airport and café Wi-Fi, where anyone on the same network can watch unprotected traffic.
- One account, one bill. IPTV and VPN sit in the same customer area, are paid with the same payment methods and renew the same way.
- Answers in one place. The VPN login and the download for each location stay in the customer's subscription page, so they can find them again without writing to you.
How it works in IPTVbp
1. Add your own servers
Open Modules → VPN → Servers in your portal and click Add server. Enter a name, the country, the server's IP address, the SSH port and the root password. The server needs Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 with full root access.
IPTVbp connects over SSH and sets everything up for you:
- OpenVPN on port 443, over both UDP and TCP
- a username-and-password login that refuses an account once it has expired
- the firewall and network rules the VPN needs
- an optional DNS filter that blocks ads, trackers and malware, which you can switch on in the VPN settings
Each server belongs to a country. Your customers get one VPN profile for every country where you have a server online, so a server in a new country is a new location in your offer.
2. Create your VPN plans
On Products, click Add VPN plan. Choose the store and your VPN servers, give the plan a name, set the number of devices per account (5 by default) and enter your prices for 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. You can add other lengths in days as well.
A VPN plan is a normal product in your store. It uses your checkout, your payment gateways and your renewal invoices, exactly like your IPTV plans.
3. Customers buy, the platform does the rest
| When | What IPTVbp does |
|---|---|
| A customer pays | Creates their VPN account on every online server, with the device limit of the plan |
| The customer renews | Extends the account to the new end date |
| The term ends unpaid | After your grace period (7 days unless you change it), suspends the subscription and removes the account from your servers |
| Someone tries to connect after the end date | The server refuses the login, even before the account is removed |
| A customer connects more devices than the plan allows | The extra connection is refused |
If an order comes in while none of your servers is online, nothing fails silently: the order waits under Needs manual set-up with the reason, so you can bring a server back and deliver it.
What your customers see
After payment the customer gets an email with their VPN username and password and a link to their subscription. On that page they press Download next to the country they want, which saves a .ovpn file. Then they connect in one of two apps:
- IPTV Smarters Pro: tap Connect VPN (some versions: Settings → VPN) → Add Certificate → File → Browse → pick the .ovpn file → Import. Then tap the imported file, enter the username and password and tap Save and Connect.
- OpenVPN Connect (phone or computer): Menu → My Profiles → + → Upload File → pick the .ovpn file → enter the username and password → Connect.

Running your VPN day to day
The VPN page in your portal has six tabs: Overview, Sessions, Plans, Servers, Users and Settings.
- Sessions shows who is connected right now.
- Servers lets you re-test or re-install a server, run a speed test, set its capacity by hand, or give it your own connect domain.
- Users lets you create a VPN account by hand, for example a test account for yourself or a customer you bill outside the store.
What it costs
VPN Management costs €19.99 a month or €199.90 a year (two months free). It's an add-on on top of your IPTVbp plan; no plan includes it. Find it on the modules page and compare plans on the pricing page.
The servers are yours. You choose the hosting provider, the countries and the size, and you set your own VPN prices. The module handles the installation, the accounts and the billing.
Getting started checklist
- In your portal, open Modules → Browse all modules and add VPN Management.
- Rent an Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 server in the country you want to offer, with UDP and TCP port 443 open.
- Add it under Modules → VPN → Servers and wait until it shows Online.
- Create a plan with Add VPN plan on your Products page.
- Create a test account under Users, connect, and check that browsing works.
- Tell your customers: a short email, a banner on your store, or a line in your renewal messages.
