How to Set Up Plex Media Server
Connect your Plex Media Server to IPTVbp to sell access to your Plex libraries.
Ensure your Plex server is accessible
Your Plex server URL typically looks like http://your-ip:32400 or you can use a custom domain that points to your Plex server.
Find your Plex authentication token
Method 1 — From the web app: 1. Sign in to app.plex.tv and open any media item in your library. 2. Click the three dots menu and select Get Info > View XML. 3. Look at the URL in your browser — find the parameter X-Plex-Token= and copy the value after it.
Method 2 — From Plex settings: 1. Go to your Plex server URL directly: https://your-server:32400/web 2. Navigate to Settings > General. 3. Open your browser developer tools (F12), go to the Network tab, and look for requests containing X-Plex-Token in the headers.
Your Plex token is a long alphanumeric string like 'abc123XYZdef456'. It does not expire unless you sign out of all devices.
Add the Plex server in IPTVbp
| Field | Description | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Server URL | The public URL of your Plex Media Server, including the port if not using a reverse proxy. | Yes |
| Plex Token | Your Plex authentication token (X-Plex-Token). Used to authenticate API requests to your Plex server. | Yes |
Never share your Plex token publicly. It grants full admin access to your Plex server.
Configure libraries for sharing
Create separate products for different access tiers — for example, a 'Movies Only' product and a 'Full Access' product with all libraries.
Test the connection
If the connection fails, check that your Plex server is accessible from the internet and that the token is correct. Try accessing your-server-url/identity?X-Plex-Token=your-token in a browser to verify.
