How to collect product reviews and star ratings from your verified buyers
Show star ratings and reviews from customers who bought from you on your product pages and plan cards. Approve each review and reply in public.
New customers trust other customers. With the Product Reviews add-on, customers who bought from you can give your products 1 to 5 stars and write a few words. The stars show on your plan cards, and the reviews show under each product on its page.
Product Reviews costs €4.99 a month or €49 a year. It is included on the Business and Enterprise plans.
Only verified buyers can write a review: a customer who has a paid order for that product at your store. A free trial on its own does not count. Each customer writes one review per product. Once sent, a review can't be changed by the customer, unless you send it back to them.
1Step 1 of 6Turn on Product Reviews
Open Modules → Browse all modules and find Product Reviews. Start it there. On the Business and Enterprise plans it is listed under Included in your plan: switch it on at no extra cost.
Once it is on, you find the page under Modules → Reviews.
2Step 2 of 6Choose: approve first, or publish right away
At the top of the Reviews page is Publish reviews right away.
- Off (the default): every new review waits under Pending until you click Approve.
- On: new reviews show on your store at once. You can still hide any review later.
3Step 3 of 6Approve, hide and reply
The Reviews page has five tabs: Pending, Published, Hidden, Reported and Sent back.
A new review (and a reported one) shows in your bell, as a number on Reviews in the menu and as "Reviews waiting" on your dashboard, so you don't miss it. Under Settings → Notifications, Reviews waiting chooses the bell and the push (with the Mobile App add-on); there is no e-mail for it.
- Approve shows a waiting review on your store.
- Hide takes a review off your store. Unhide brings it back.
- Send back (on a pending or published review) returns it to the customer with an optional note, for example "please leave out the link". It leaves your store until they send it again. The customer sees your note in their account and can change the review once; it then waits under Pending again. Their thank-you is not given a second time, and we never e-mail them about it.
- Reply adds one public answer from your store under the review. Write it and click Post reply. You can edit or remove your reply later.
You can never change a customer's stars or words. That keeps your reviews honest, and it is what search engines expect from real reviews.
4Step 4 of 6Ask your customers for a review
Customers are asked in their own account. After a paid order, they see Rate your purchase in their account and a "Rate this product" box on their subscription's page. We never e-mail your customers about reviews.
You can also ask them yourself. Under Review links on the Reviews page, click Copy link next to a product and paste the link into your own Discord, Telegram or WhatsApp messages. The link opens the review form after the customer signs in.
The General review link at the top is one link for everyone: after signing in, the customer sees the products they bought and have not reviewed yet (or goes straight to the form when there is only one). The thank-you works the same way.
Visitors also find Write a review under Customer reviews on each product page.
5Step 5 of 6Thank your customers for reviewing (optional)
Under Thank-you for reviewing on the Reviews page you can give customers a small thank-you for writing a review. Choose No reward (the default), Discount on the next order (a percentage, with how many days the code is valid) or Account credit (a fixed amount added to the customer's account credit at your store), then click Save reward.
The rules are the same for every store, and they keep your reviews honest:
- Every honest review gets the same thank-you, 1 to 5 stars. A reward that depends on the rating would be buying good reviews, which consumer law in the EU and the US forbids, so there is no setting for it.
- It is given as soon as the customer sends the review, not when you approve it.
- One thank-you per customer per product. Changing a review later does not give another one.
- The review is marked Received a thank-you for reviewing, and the customer is told about the thank-you before they write.
- A discount code works once, only at your store, until the date it shows. The customer sees their code or credit in their account. We never e-mail your customers about it.
- Reviews that got a thank-you are not included in the star rating that search engines read, but they still show on your store with their mark.
Rewards given shows how many thank-yous went out in the last 30 days, how many codes were used and how much credit was given.
With Discount on the next order you can also choose Put reward codes in campaign and pick one of your own campaigns (Promo codes → Campaigns). New thank-you codes are then added to that campaign while it is Active, so you see them and how they are used on the campaign's page, marked Review reward. If the campaign is paused or ended, new codes are simply given without a campaign. No campaign (the default) keeps things as they were.
6Step 6 of 6Handle reported reviews
Customers who are signed in to your store can report a review, for example spam or personal information. Reported reviews appear under Reported with the reason. Hide the review, or click Dismiss reports when it is fine.
If a reported review is really spam, offensive, shares personal information or is not about the product, choose the reason and click Hide as abuse. This hides the review and takes back its thank-you: an unused discount code stops working, and credit is taken back as far as it has not been spent. A normal Hide never takes a thank-you back.
What your customers see
- Your product cards and plan cards show the stars and the number of reviews once a product has its first published review. Products without a published review show no stars.
- The product page shows the stars and the number of reviews right under the product name (a click jumps to the reviews), and the reviews themselves, newest first, under Customer reviews.
- To protect your customers, a review shows the customer's name masked: only its first and last letter, with stars in between (for example "Anna K." shows as "A***K"), marked "Verified buyer". Your own Reviews page shows the full name. E-mail addresses are never shown.
- Only your own store's published reviews are shown on your store, never reviews from another store.
- Search engines can show your real star rating in search results. Only published reviews count (without the ones that got a thank-you), and nothing shows before your first one.
